It's a wildlife documentary!
A canal is like a nature reserve, several metres wide and many miles long. You might see Kingfishers, water voles, dragonflies, bats or herons, children of all ages enjoy looking at the wildlife.
Whilst the the younger ones have fun feeding the ducks and seeing the brightly coloured boats, for the teenagers, it's watching the boats through the locks and understanding how they work, taking a boat trip or fishing. But don't take our word for it - get them out there.
As a parent, it's always good to know that the kids are happy and have plenty of attractions to keep them busy. Why not split the day up and take in the other fantastic family attractions on offer in the area?
Read our 'more to enjoy' page for ideas on days out - and get the kids excited with our special kids' section.
Always remember to stay SAFE near water. Stay Away From the Edge
